Seriously, you are stuck in the fantasy of dressing. (its ok, i have been there too, and its quite normal.) But the only way to bring fantasy to reality is to a) accept yourself and b) Talk to your partner.

I’ll answer your question by telling you about my cool family. Every summer we have a big family reunion in the mountains were we rent a lodge for a few days. My grandmother had eight children (four boys, and four girls). So they and their spouses and 30 children (cousins) all gather from five states to bond together.
Everyday and every evening has activities planned. We have a camping day, a sports day and a ladies day off. The women do most of the work, so the guys decided they would give the women a rest and take over the cooking, cleaning, etc. The first time they did this the men found a couple aprons and tore up an old sheet to make more aprons. They thought they were funny. Odd perhaps, but the my aunt promised to make them real aprons for next year. So on year number 2, my aunt dared my uncles to wear these frilly pinafore aprons, and they never hesitated. They wore short pants, and you couldn’t even see their pants underneath the aprons. They wore the pinafore aprons all day and in the evening they put on a show. A couple even wore real skirts under their aprons.
Another year and a couple of my male cousins joined the "frilly apron club" by working on ladies day off. When evening came some of the female cousins wanted the guys to put on a show with the frilly aprons and they helped them with their costumes – dresses and skirts which they wore over their short pants. It was a big hit, a lot of fun, and was a big step to the next stage.
Ladies day off and the frilly apron club was so popular that lots of the guys wanted in on the fun. It caused the family to reorganize the day. It was changed from "ladies day off" to "switch day" where guys dressed as girls and girls dressed as guys. It was the only way to include everybody. Ladies still have the day off, and the men do the cooking and cleaning.
Nowadays my mom checks to see what the others are doing and then gets my brothers to participate. The moms make sure that the boys are dressed modestly (they don’t let guys wear short skirts or stuff their bra – so they all look flat chested). The mom also select boys for the evening "beauty pageant". Everybody gets involved, but the moms make all the rules.
My older brother is pretty big so he doesn’t make a good girl. Still he participated in the beauty pageant last year, just for fun. He prefers a loose skirt and petticoat to more restrictive clothing. My mom has made him some clothes he likes because she couldn’t just buy them off the rack. Then he would have to change into a formal for the evening show.
No cross gender dressing is allowed until the final full day of the reunion. Girls dress like guys, but that’s not a big deal. So some of the girls have taken it upon themselves to help the guys with their outfits. These fashionistas will bring prom dresses and wigs and if a guys isn’t dressed up well enough then they will give him a make-over. Many of the guys will start the day off in one outfit and be in another outfit by lunch, and another before dinner, and then wear another for the evening. We all know the fashionistas got them. Remember the rules about dressing modestly – they still hold. The mom’s have to approve the outfits or they will be punished.
You might wonder if these boys are a bunch of queers. No, they are normal guys. When they wear girls clothes they still act like boys. They can act like a girl for about 5 minutes before they revert to their old masculine behavior… just in a wig and dress. They don’t wear heels, it just isn’t practical. The idea is to have fun, not anything sexy.
So a couple months before the family reunion my brothers will start looking at dresses in catalogs.. Hu mmm what are the girls wearing to the prom this year? Do you think this would work well on me? It’s funny to see my older brother go on a diet to look better in a dress. He even pierced his ears when he found out he was going to be in the beauty pageant.
So what does a well dressed guy wear at these reunions? He will need a good wig and good shoes. He will need some foundation garments that he can wear all day long. He will need a comfortable skirt and blouse that he can work in. He will need a pretty dress to show off. He will need evening wear, like a prom dress, or another formal. He should expect some girls to help him with make-up, nails, earrings, jewelry, etc.. He will have to be flexible and expect to change outfits several times over the day.
Some guys do look like they could pass as a girl, but most don’t. They may feel vulnerable and insecure. The family doesn’t care how pretty you are. We are all family and we can laugh and appreciate everyone, and encourage everyone to loosen-up and laugh at themselves.
